Try NZ seeds suppliers on the internet. Or garden shops in Bunnings, Mitre 10 etc.
Pumpkin 28 Feb, Daniel Chai (New Zealand - temperate climate)
in my garden now many pumpkins are sprouting, even if it is not the season. Maybe after eating pumpkins the dregs were dumped there. what shall i do? Do I remove them to save the space for other veges or leave them?
Pumpkin 10 Mar, Orlene (New Zealand - sub-tropical climate)
Howdy, If you can afford to give them that space e.g you dont need to use it for something else I say keep them in, might as well give it a go and see if you can get another harvest. I am currently growing Golden Nugget Pumpkins, they are a bush variety so can handle a bit lower temp/less light hours. One thing you will need to watch out for is powdery mildew as the plants tend to stay wetter for longer in the morning and the evening.

There is not much sense growing something out of season. You may produce a crop that has little or no produce. Grow some thing that is in season.

Hi, what can I plant with my collards to deter small white flys that seem to be All over the underside of my collards?

Pyrethrum might work

Look up the internet for an organic spray.
Sweet corn (also corn, maize) 04 Feb, Helen Tapper (New Zealand - temperate climate)
This is my 2nd season of growing corn, last season was very successful, this year - not so. I have planted them almost exactly in the same spot as last season. Was that the right thing to do or wrong. The other point is that we have had some pretty crazy summer temperatures, high 20's then low to mid teens. I fertilised the garden during the winter/early spring.
Sweet corn (also corn, maize) 05 Feb, (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Better to plant in different spot. Corn is a big user of fertiliser and water. When preparing the soil add compost/manures if possible, Soils always need some fibre replacement each year. Then mark out your rows about 50-60cm apart, Scratch a furrow in the soil and run some fertiliser in the furrow - I use Bunnings rooster booster. Have the soil wet before starting, after planting give another watering. Don't water again for 3-4 days. Too wet seeds will rot. When plants are 45cm high run some more fert down each side of the plants and hill the soil up around the stalk. Corn pollinates for 5 days and you pick it approx 21 days later. I just picked 28 cobs last week. S
Potato 02 Feb, steve (New Zealand - sub-tropical climate)
Can anyone recommend a good place to buy seed potatoes and seeds in general - prices seem to vary hugely
Potato 28 Mar, Lyall (New Zealand - temperate climate)
I picked mine up from Mitre 10 Mega - they gave me an excellent harvest, but I don't recall the specific variety (there was more than one variety available).
Potato 03 Feb, (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Farming produce agencies sometimes have seed potatoes. Research the internet for seed selling companies, they have potatoes also. I have a small family seed seller who charges 1.25 to 2$ for small quantities of seed, other companies up to 3-4-5$

Try seed selling companies.
Broad Beans (also Fava bean) 31 Jan, Aaron (New Zealand - temperate climate)
Apparently, falafel was originally made from dried Broad Beans. I've tried them in a "meatless" patty in burgers. First boiling the beans till they start to soften then putting them in a blender. They don't have the gritty texture chickpeas can have. Even a confirmed carnivore like me was happy eating them.
Broad Beans (also Fava bean) 22 Aug, Richard Stancliffe (New Zealand - cool/mountain climate)
Nice - will have try that.
Beans - dwarf (also French beans, Bush beans) 26 Jan, Steve Green (New Zealand - temperate climate)
Hi, can dwarf runner beans be over-watered please? Mine were great, then the leaves looked a wee bit brown so my Mom watered them and this morning they look like they're dying, the leaves have curled and they re wilting.
Beans - dwarf (also French beans, Bush beans) 27 Jan, Anonymous (New Zealand - sub-tropical climate)
If you have heavy clay soil you could over water. Could be wilt.
Cape Gooseberry (also Golden Berry, Inca Berry ) 25 Jan, (New Zealand - sub-tropical climate)
I sow seeds in November last year which was bought from Bunnings and they are still very tiny plants around 15cm height. Not sure what's wrong or do I just need to be patience?
Cape Gooseberry (also Golden Berry, Inca Berry ) 27 Jan, Anon (New Zealand - sub-tropical climate)
I think you have very poor soil. Or it is very hot temperature. Try again early autumn.
