Check which variety of carrot you planted. Some do have a purple skin and some are short. Check here https://www.grow-it-organically.com/carrot-varieties.html

how do you keep artichokes for the following year for replanting >?
Jerusalem Artichokes (also Sunchoke) 06 Jun, GERRY C (Australia - temperate climate)
I know it's late but was looking up more info on them and saw this. I store them like I do bulbs, in a small cardboard box with air holes in a dark cupboard in the shed. I normally harvest through autumn and plant next years through spring. Don't know if it's the best way but works for me.
Jerusalem Artichokes (also Sunchoke) 24 May, Chris (Australia - temperate climate)
I just leave a few tubers in the ground. They regrow in the spring so long as they get a bit of water. Frost doesn't stop them.

Hi hi are there any tips for growing coriander and parsley in our hot to cooler climate now? Thanks

Plant in full sun in late autumn (now). If you plant when it is warm to hot you will get little plants that bolt to flower.

I love BB and want to start a container garden, I have tough big wooden troughs. Any hints recommendations for a new gardener?
Broad Beans (also Fava bean) 21 May, Gaye (New Zealand - cool/mountain climate)
Planted bb plants in Invercargill a few weeks ago as climate autumnal. I think they will be good early spring. Often whatever is at garden centres will be an indication on what to put in. Also put kale and few lettuce plants in and will put garlic in in June

I planted my brussel sprout in early October I trimmed back all the lower leaves and I'm barely starting to get fruit now it's the first weekend in May and I'm getting little fruit about the size of a pencil eraser does it normally take this long?
Brussels sprouts 28 May, Nicole (USA - Zone 9b climate)
We planted ours in September. Our plants got huge by February but the actual sprouts remained tiny...and spicy! We discovered how delicious the leaves are so now we grow brussel sprouts for the leaves, rather than the brussels themselves :)
